Arctic Quality Insulation utilizes Blown-In insulation for ceiling/attic spaces in order to provide a thick, light layer of insulation that keeps your attic cool, thus avoiding moisture build-up and ice dams on your roof.
The two major choices in Blown-In insulation are:
- Loose Fill Cellulose – The highest R-Value loose fill option requires less cubic feet than fiberglass fill, and actually performs better in colder climates. Made from 85% recycled content (mostly old newspaper), it does settle over time and is better for ceiling framing of 16 inches.
- Loose Fill Fiberglass – more lightweight that cellulose, fiberglass fill requires at least 12 inches in depth to give you the R-Value insulation needed for an attic space. Some customers like to add batt over the top of the fiberglass fill as an insulation blanket. Up to 60% in recycled content, it will work on ceiling framing of up to 24 inches.
